About Us

Introduction

The Centre for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA) was established on May 15, 1969 under a tripartite agreement between Government of Nepal, Tribhuvan University and the Ford Foundation. Started as an autonomous institution, the Centre was later integrated into Tribhuvan University and given the status of an Institute on December 15, 1975 after the National Education System Plan (NESP) was implemented. Since then, CEDA has been serving as a policy-research centre contributing towards the national development policies and strategies. Similarly, the Centre's activities are basically confined to research, consultancy and training programmes.

Goal :
The goal of the Centre is to contribute to the nation building through analytical and problem solving works in the areas of socio-economic and administrative development

  Objectives:

·To assist the policy makers in formulating and implementing the development policies, plans and programs;

·To provide the policy makers with conceptual, empirical and value premise for shaping the development policies, plans and programs;

·To recommend the policy makers alternative policies, ideas and options;

·To foster intelligent and informed discussions on the issues and problems in the Nepalese public affair so as to promote and establish an enlightened, conscious and influential public opinion;

·To help various agencies of the Tribhuvan University in their diverse programs and to enhance their role in the national development; and

·To engage oneself with international collaboration in the study and pursuit of development changes

         Scope and Activities: 

        The Centre’s activities are basically confined to research, consultancy, and training and action program. It carries out research studies, training programs, and consultancy services on the following areas:

i. Formulation of development plans, evaluation of developmental activities, sect oral development programs and investment, inter-sectoral development, effects of exogenous factors on national economy, employment and income distribution;

ii. Regional and rural development, rural-urban linkages and decentralization;

iii. Physical and financial resource mobilization, national and regional development polices and their assessment, macro and micro policy measures;

iv. Sectoral development policies;

v. Human resource development;

vi. Management and administration;

vii. Natural and environmental resources;

viii. Population growth, resources, fertility, family planning, migration, women and development, etc.;

ix. Action programs and 

x. Evaluation of plans, programs and projects.
